Description: Chicago Tribune, Mar. 8, 1890, “Grips for West Siders”.

Original owner likely West Chicago Street Railroad, as ninety North Chicago combination cars were rebuilt in 1898 into separate grips and trailers. Combination cars were reported in service on Milwaukee Avenue with and without trailers in 1901 (Chicago Tribune, Jan. 26, 1901, “Cable Service Found Faulty”). A group of 29 cars, remaining in 1906, was to be motorized under work order #69, but only #262 went through rebuilding.
