The silver-red looks very good too. Is there a reason, some of St. Petersburgs new beauties have red-white and this red-silver? Or is it just coincidence?

Yes. Espesially at white nights. This red-silver is oficial color scheme. Several years ago police noted that trams must be red, like a very danger for cars - the red-white scheme. Before this decree color schemes was determining depots. In other ends of city was run blue, yellow, orange, green, red, red-white trams (see photos before 2006-2007).
A color scheme of 7536 named "Ivory". It is colors of "Elephant's" - ЛМ-47/49.

Grey is not a good color for visibility. This here, is also good: http://transphoto.ru/photo/936200/

It is very good visible, although the silver of the tram above make it look very stylish and elegant.

The dark red and "creme" color is also o. k. on that LM-68M seen above, it's just the tram itself that looks like an old barn.

A similar tram than 71-623-02 I have seen photos of in orange and blue! First I thought.. what I combination! It does not fit. But honestly, it is a good color to use for high-visibility in traffic and it is also a colorful sight during the long grey winter period.

Не такая уж и крупная - переходил "в неположенном месте" вообще без проблем =)

Не целиком, по серому фону разбросаны цветные полоски.

Красно-белая - это схема окраски образца 2003 года. За десять лет она всем надоела, и её решили заменить. После нескольких попыток утвердился серый стандарт, как на Мегаполисах, УТМе, питерских Электронах и поздних ЛМ-68М2. Но УКВЗ не осилил покрасить свои трамваи в стандарт, и выдал серебристо-вишнёвый вариант, то есть помесь красно-белого стандарта с серым. Поскольку от серого стандарта к тому времени все уже были в ужасе, серебристо-вишнёвый вариант приняли на ура, конкуренты увидели это и выкрасили свой трамвай почти целиком в красный цвет с небольшими серыми дополнениями. Так питерский серый бренд явочным порядком сделали красно-серебристым, ещё раз показав, что в питерском ГЭТе царит бардак. Как вы заметили, я не упомянул вишнёво-слоновую окраску, это спецокраска для устаревших моделей трамваев (old-barn-painting), но поскольку окраска красивая, а в ГЭТе бардак, то у нас теперь в слона и пчёл красят, хотя это трамваи 21 века.

Personally I don't like their traditional bright-orange and dark-blue colours, other colour schemes like those of 623s recently purchased in St Petersburg or Samara are much nicer. Though, tastes differ.

Я никогда не понимал, по какому принципу одни ЛМ-68/ЛВС-86/ЛВС-97/пчёлы в Питере покрасили бело-красным, а другие такие же - бежево-вишнёвым. От парка зависит?

It is very interesting to read your remarks! Apart from that I visited St. P. and found it a fascinating huge city, I also see now that it is interesting from the side of tram fleet.

Alot of diversity of models, colors, different depots. I like diversity :)
