Yangtse WG6100BE

Yangtse WG6100BE — 10.5 metre high floor "dual-mode" trolleybus, functionally an electric bus with in motion charging, as it lacks the circuitry connection from the current collectors to the motor. The vehicle was produced under the legendary "WGD61U" model index, 18 years after the original WGD61U was produced in 1999. The exact model index is not known.
These vehicles were purchased by Luoyang at the metro operator's expense, as the older Sunwin and Yangtse trolleybuses lacked off-wire running, needed for the period of metro construction. However, after metro construction was completed, much of the overhead wires were not restored, and eventually, amost all overhead wiring (except depot wiring) was removed in 2024, citing a lack of funding for maintenance and the outdatedness of wiring. As a result, these "trolley" buses now run much like other electric buses in the city.
