Three downtown underground LRT stations have been already opened. These are Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill, Historic Broadway, Little Tokyo/Arts District stations, built under the brand of The Regional Connector Transit Project. Thus, the two previously separated LRT networks (A and E line on one hand, and the former L line on the other) are now connected. Two through-running services have been introduced:
A Line — Downtown Long Beach — APU/Citrus College, 78.1 km (48.5 miles),
E Line — Downtown Santa Monica — Atlantic, 35 km (22 miles).
Thereby, the A Line has become the world's longest tram/streetcar/LRT line (78.1 km/48.5 miles), surpassing the previous record holder of Kussttram (Coastal Tram) in Belgium (69 km). |
