The old situation on the Groenplaats, when line 7 (from time to time, here behind line 8), line 8, 4 and 3 (shuttle between Groenplaats and Lambermontplaats) ended here. A couple of years later (1979), line 8 goes to Lambermontplaats, line 7 to St. Pietersvliet and line 8 was replaced by line 4. In 2019 only 1 tramline comes on the Groenplaats (line 4) and the loop is only used for service reasons and not for normal operations.

A postcard of unfortunately mediocre quality. It is one of the few known shots of a crossing between a P.C.C. tram of the city tram and an S tram of the N.M.V.B. This was only possible between 1960 and 1968. I am not aware of the existence of any other color photos.
This photo once inspired us to redo this 50 years of the closure of the N.M.V.B. in Antwerpen, with an older tram: the S-car cannot leave the tram museum anymore...

The tram was only delivered three weeks earlier and is therefore still in its original condition, including a seat for a conductor: one-man operation was not yet in place at that time. The raised seat can be seen at the front next to the door.

As a result of the World Fair in Antwerp in 1930 and the expected increase in passengers, all seats were removed from a number of trams (also for the staff...) and only standing places were available. This is what was written on the tram (in both national languages at the time). To my knowledge unique: I cannot find any other passenger tram without seats. Of course, the trams (there were several) got their seats back after the exhibition.
